MacDonald Training Center Resumes/PortfolioPlease bring a current head shot and resume with you to the audition. You may also be asked to perform cold readings from the script. Dancer AuditionsOur "in-house" dance company, "Asher Dance Eclectic", is looking for dancers 18+ with strong dance background in modern/lyrical dance. We also are looking for wheelchair dancers (with or without former dance education) to join our company. Please contact Marlo Chambers, Dance Company Interim Director, (813) 997-6169, to schedule an audition. Tips For Auditions that Require Learning a Dance Combination:What to wearArrive at the audition wearing appropriate dance clothing, or change upon arriving. For women, leotard and tights or leotard/dance shirt and dance/jazz pants, dance shoe such as jazz shoes, ballet slippers, hip-hop sneakers or bare feet. Character shoes usually are not appropriate for an audition. For men: Dance or close fitting t-shirt, dance/jazz pants or sweat pants, dance shoe such as jazz shoes, ballet slippers, hip-hop sneaker or bare feet. Loose hair that dangles in front of face should be pulled back. Jewelry: Any dangling earrings, large hoop earrings, necklaces, bracelets should be removed. Warm UpFind any opportunity at the audition to warm up your body prior to learning the dance combination. The choreographer does not lead a warm-up for auditionees and you will perform much better if your body is adequately warmed-up and stretched. In GeneralDO NOT chew gum during audition! Usually, the choreographer or dance captain will give auditionees the opportunity to ask any questions about the combination. Take this opportunity to ask about anything in the combination that is unclear to you, but try not to monopolize the choreographer's time. Use time after learning the combination and before your audition in front of the director to practice either by yourself or with other auditionees. This is your opportunity to show the director that you can perform no matter what you are asked to do. So even if you did not have dance training, do your best, use facial expression and don't count out loud! You never know what the director is looking for and your "performance" may outshine your dance technique. |
