Evening and Matinee Performances
THE LIFE depicts the streets of NYC's Times Square in the 1980's, back when pimps, prostitutes, hustlers, dealers, runaways and street people ruled 42nd Street. The award-winning musical dramatically captures their collective struggle to survive. Beneath the bedlam, characters discover hope and despair, riches and ruins, freedom and entrapment, and above all, the huge price of living THE LIFE.
Cy Coleman's (Sweet Charity, Barnum, City of Angel's) score is charged with emotionally revealing songs; the music is the pulse of life itself, as experienced by the show's characters. Trapped in a location and situations most of us would avoid at all costs, the personal stories and dreams of Fleetwood, Memphis, Jojo, Sonja, Queen, Mary and Lou are realistic and gripping.
